Spectrum Theatre will be presenting Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again. by Alice Birch in July/August 2026.

The production will premiere on the 17 July 2026 with shows on 17–19, 24–26 of July and 31 July–2 August and the final weekend 7–8 August with a matinee and night show on the 8th August to keep Sunday free for bump-out.

Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again. will be directed by Nelson Blake.

Auditions will be held on Saturday 21 March between 12.30–5pm. A timeslot will be allocated within this window. It is hoped that all auditionees will be able to make this date as the director has important work on the 22nd. Auditions outside of the 21st will be considered in exceptional circumstances. 

Rehearsals will be April, May, June and July. At this stage rehearsals will be Wednesday nights and Saturday afternoons to fit in with Spectrum’s other bookings, but this may also change dependent on cast availabilities after a discussion.

Roles: 

The script calls for 6 actors who portray multiple roles. 

Successful casting will primarily be based on:

A) the actor’s ability to, well, act… and switch characters/voices quickly, 

B) the actor’s willingness to engage with & discuss the text,

C) availability, and 

D) ensemble cohesion (peers, ability to work well together).

Essential information:

Please take the time to read the below information and associated links before applying to audition:

1. Only actors aged 18+ will be considered. 

TW: the play contains themes and content such as sexual assault, abuse, gender violence and coarse language. It is an unapologetically feminist text.

2. The script is a contemporary post-modern play with attitude. There is very coarse language and themes. Auditionees should consider how comfortable they are with MA rated content and potential partial nudity (to be discussed). Please see more about the script here

4. This google form is for anyone intending to audition for Spectrum Theatre’s production. The questions are intended to assist the director with casting. Your answers may be shared with the Spectrum Theatre committee – please do not provide any information that you consider sensitive or confidential. 

5. Auditions will be Saturday 21 March between 12.30 and 5pm. After you submit, times will be allocated in 10–15 minute time-slots and emailed to you. This may take a few days depending on how many submissions there are. 

6. Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred times but there is no guarantee.

7. Auditions will be solo, with elements of cold-reading, discussion and workshopping/acting on stage. The director and at least 1 other Spectrum committee member will be present for auditions. Applicants are more than welcome to also have a support person present.

Notice about auditioning

As per our constitution, and as our insurance, all members of the cast and crew of a production must be members of Spectrum Theatre. Although you do not have to be a member to audition, you will need to join Spectrum Theatre should you accept the offer of a part or role within the production.
